About Stephane Ogier
The Ogier family had been cultivating grapes in Ampuis for over seven generations, but it wasn't until the 1980s that they began making their own wine. Stéphane Ogier joined the family estate in 1997, working alongside his father, Michel, before taking the reins in 2003.
Recognized as a leading figure of the new generation in the Northern Rhône, Stéphane continues to expand their vineyard holdings and experiment with innovative techniques. Drawing from his studies in Beaune, he applies a Burgundian approach to the Rhône’s terroir. He vinifies each of his many *lieux-dits* separately, employing oak with restraint to highlight the distinct characteristics of each site. Stéphane releases several wines as single *lieu-dit* bottlings and crafts others by blending selections from different barrels, creating styles that reflect both his personal vision and the nuances of each vintage. His recent ventures include expanding into vineyards in Rasteau, Cairanne, and Plan de Dieu in the Southern Rhône, growing his holdings there to 50 hectares—all dedicated to producing his Côtes-du-Rhône wines.
