Antinori Tignanello 2016 — Toscana IGT (750 mL)
A brilliant expression of Super-Tuscan legacy, this 2016 vintage delivers striking depth, structure, and finesse—embodying Antinori’s blend of tradition and innovation. Blended from 80% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Cabernet Franc, it is estate-grown on limestone-rich soils in Bolgheri at 350–400 m elevation.
Color: Deep, opaque ruby‑red—rich and inviting.
Nose: Ripe dark berries, cassis, wild blackfruit, with notes of vanilla, dark chocolate, baking spice, and hints of herbs, underbrush, pine needle, and fresh leaf.
Palate: Bold and structured, balanced by bright acidity and silky tannins. Flavors span black cherries, espresso, tobacco, licorice, fennel, orange zest, gamey spice and earthy herbs.
Finish: Long, complex, and persistent, with vibrant fruit framed by spice, wet earth, and polished oak.
Vintage & Accolades
The outstanding 2016 vintage brought refined structure and clarity—widely considered one of the finest Tignanello releases. Critic scores include 99/100 from Wine Enthusiast, 98 from Vinous, and 97 from both Wine Spectator and Parker’s Wine Advocate.
Why It’s Exceptional
Born from a historic estate and rooted in Tuscany’s Super-Tuscan revolution, Tignanello broke the mold in the 1970s by blending traditional Sangiovese with Bordeaux varieties and aging in small oak barrels. It remains one of Italy’s most iconic wines. The 2016 merits particular praise for its tension between fruit and acidity, as well as its polish and elegance.
